Central Square Florist – International Women’s Day

women's dayThroughout history, countless women have used their lives and influence to shape entire societies and the culture around them. Women have benefited the world and earned their place in the history books, still admired and respected to this day. On March 8th, International Women’s Day will be celebrated all around the world as a tribute to the good that women have achieved, to applaud how far their rights have come, and to highlight issues that still need to be addressed.

Although the United States has been a champion for women domestically and around the globe, there are many countries that still need to reach a place of respect for their people. In March of 2011, President Obama declared the entire month to be commemorated as “Women’s History Month”, urging Americans to keep in mind the great women of our past. From ladies as diverse as Helen Keller to Amelia Earhart, there are many accomplishments that we look to that have made America great.

If you want to honor a woman who is making large social changes, or perhaps is just a hero in her own right, celebrate her this coming March 8th. Flowers are a meaningful way to show someone that you are thinking of them and appreciate all that they do. Bouquets comprised of specific flowers can also have deep meanings that speak to the unique qualities of the recipient.

For instance, daffodils are commonly known to represent the values of respect and regard; while alstromeria speaks to wealth and prosperity. For a woman who has achieved great success, both palms and laurel flowers give her honor. This International Women’s Day, send a woman you hold in high esteem a gorgeous floral arrangement for her home or office.

Here at Central Square Florist, we are proud to support all the women that make a difference in Boston and Cambridge – and the world at large. Show her that you recognize her role enhancing her community and the lives around her – choose a floral arrangement just for her and have it sent on March 8th.
