In The News: Floral Tips From Central Square Florist On How To Welcome Spring

Winter can feel like it lasts forever in New England, especially by the time February rolls around. Fortunately for residents of the area, Central Square Florist in Cambridge, Massachusetts has expert advice for bringing a bit of spring indoors. Vice President Jackie Levine and Floral Designer Emma Curtis shared some of their favorite flower tips with Hub Today on NBC 10 Boston.

“We’re bringing spring inside in the wintertime through flowers,” says Levine. “It can be intimidating if it’s not something you do every day. But you can bring in a few bunches of flowers, place them in a vase easily, and have color inside your house during these cold winter months.”

Curtis then introduced the flowers that she and Levine brought with them into the studio, showcasing a variety of rich color and springtime blossoms. “We have some tulips, we have some hyacinths, we have some daffodils, we have a little bit of fern, just as a nice green accent,” she says. Curtis then arranged each bunch of flowers in a vase, showing how easy it is to curate your own beautiful bouquet. “No professional design experience is needed,” adds Levine.

If you need professional guidance, Levine suggests talking about what you’re looking for when you go to your local shop. “They can share what they like, or if it’s for a specific recipient, like their significant other or a friend… we can show you whichever color you prefer,” she says. “What’s nice in our store is that you can actually go into the coolers yourself and build your own bouquet.”
