Old South Church & Ostra Wedding Day Flowers
Wedding day flowers are remembered forever. This past weekend we had the pleasure of doing the wedding flowers for Olivia and Jared’s wedding. The couple’s ceremony took place at the OldSouth Church Gordon Chapel in Back Bay and Ostra on Charles Street South.
Olivia and Jared’s ceremony was held in the Gordon Chapel which is within the Old South Church. The chapel is intimate for smaller weddings, yet still as beautiful as the main sanctuary. We decorated the chapel according to Olivia’s vision. Olivia wanted all white flowers throughout her wedding.
For the ceremony, she requested two large alter arrangements and aisle pews. The alter arrangements were composed of all white flowers such as oriental lilies, Vendela roses, dendrobium orchids, and calla lilies. Designed in white urns the alter arrangements were classic and elegant.
The aisle pews were simply elegant. Olivia showed us a photo she had found on Pinterest of all-white pews with ivy hanging to the ground. We replicated this for her. The pews we created were composed of white hydrangea, Vendela roses, and calla lilies. Ivy and seeded eucalyptus draped below the flowers. Olivia and Jared’s guests filled 5 rows on each side. Each row they filled was accented with flowers on the end.
The bridal party flowers also encompassed all white. The bridesmaids and maid of honor held all white hand-tied bouquets. The bouquets were composed of the same flowers used throughout the wedding — white hydrangea, Vendela roses, and white calla lilies. Olivia wanted similar for her bouquet but requested a cascading bouquet for herself. We used the same flowers as the bridesmaids and maid of honor bouquets and also added dendrobium orchids. She wanted to add a touch of coral to her bouquet so this was done b by adding donna roses. Olivia and her girls got ready at the Westin Copley Place while Jared and the guys got ready at the couple’s residence in East Cambridge.
Their reception took place at Ostra Privado. This is Ostra’s private dining room. Similar to the Gordon Chapel, it is an intimate space to hold a small party. Olivia selected an all-white cube arrangement from our collection of arrangements. The centerpieces were designed in 6×6 clear glass cubes with hydrangea, roses, callas, orchids, and more.
Photos were taken at the Public Garden prior to the ceremony. It was an absolutely beautiful day for a wedding. Not a cloud in the sky. We snapped a photo at the Garden while we were in Back Bay.
We at Central Square Florist wish Olivia + Jared all the best in their marriage. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your very special day.
