The old days at Central Square Florist(established in 1929) were busy days, the florist rising in the wee hours, going to the flower market, and displaying the floral beauties inside and outside the small shop. Flowers were cut and placed in plain water. Lots of customers stopped by to purchase, the varied selections with cash or check. Telephone orders were recorded on index cards. Deliveries were made in the owner’s vehicle.
The nowadays are also busy days!
Going to the flower market early is important but supplemented by many wholesalers delivering fresh products and supplies to our door. Flowers are flown in from South America, Holland, Israel, and far away states, arriving in prime condition.
Customer orders arrive overnight via computer and continue to come in all day. Customers place their orders by selecting their choice from our extensive website and have paid by credit card or Paypal. Phone orders are entered directly into computers, often with the caller and salesperson referring to images on our website and the messages that accompany the orders print out automatically.
Professional designers in our larger shop create the desired ordered arrangements as well as a variety of beautiful vase and basket arrangements for those who prefer to visit our shop. New products ensure the longevity of our flowers as they are processed into water. Several drivers in vans deliver floral orders in a timely manner. When the delivery is made, the driver makes an entry on his cell phone and the sender receives an email confirmation that the order has been successfully delivered.
Harry London chocolates, balloons, stuffed animals, and fruit and gourmet items have been added to our wide offerings of flowers and plants.
Keeping up with the times, Central Square Florist is a fourth-generation family-owned florist.
