Roses have represented nations, identified soldiers in war, and provided perfume for the rich and famous. But perhaps there is no role more important for these classic beauties than to express love and affection to those important to us. Rose bouquets are on display and the center of attention in June, as we celebrate National Rose Month.
Whether yellow roses for our best friends, pink roses for someone we are grateful to, or red roses for our true love – Central Square Florist has all of the stunning rose blooms you are looking for to recognize every occasion.
Once only available to the rich and famous, the rose has become the world’s most beloved flower. It has over 150 species but is cultivated in thousands of varieties, offering gorgeous colors and exquisite beauty.
The rosebush itself is amazing in its own right. A single plant can bloom for hundreds of years – like a famous 1,200 year old bush in Germany – and can also grow to almost unimaginable size, like a speciman in Tombstone Arizona. This incredible rosebush boasts over 200,000 separate flowers when in full bloom, and has been cultivated across arbors that guests can sit under.
Although our favorite usage for the flower is the giving of rose bouquets, there are other uses. Rose attar, or oil, is a sought after fragrance for bathing and perfumes; while rose hips are coveted for their exceptionally high concentrations of Vitamin C.
Did You Know? The rose hip is the fruit of the rosebush, and contains its seeds, usually about 40-50 per fruit.
This June, whether garden roses or long-stemmed, choose to send rose bouquets to those you love. Central Square Florist has the freshest, most beautiful roses in Cambridge and Boston – just give us a call.
